As an NWACC student or employee, you can seek free personal counseling services at the college for a myriad of reasons, such as assistance with general mental health counseling, career counseling, domestic abuse, sexual assault, substance abuse and recovery support, community resource assistance and more.

Personal counseling can be described as the following:

  • A positive step to help resolve a problem.
  • An educational opportunity to learn and understand yourself more fully as an individual.
  • An opportunity to eliminate barriers that may be interfering with your success at NWACC.

College life can be very rewarding, but also stressful. 人生往往有许多种 stressors that college students encounter (e.g., moving, change in financial situation, new found independence, balancing demands of parenting/school/work). 如果你刚开始 to feel stressed or overwhelmed, make an appointment to talk with a counselor. 任何 information that you share with a counselor is confidential (this information cannot be shared with anyone without your written consent).

辅导员 are trained to assist students in identifying, understanding, and developing skills to solve your personal problems. One of the major goals is to provide you with skills so that you are more capable of solving future problems on your own.

The 咨询与健康 Center is prepared to assist students and 员工 who 处于危机之中吗.g., suicidal thoughts, anger management problems). 然而,辅导员们 are not available 24 hours per day. As such, if there is a crisis during off hours, we recommend that you call the local crisis line 988, 911, or go to a local emergency 房间.

Services are free to students enrolled in the current academic semester and current 员工.

The 咨询与健康 Center currently offers services by both telehealth and 面对面的约会. While some prefer in-person sessions, others find telehealth sessions to be very convenient for their schedule.

As a current doctoral student at the University of the Cumberlands, Meagan is working on her PhD in Counselor Education & 监督.
